My Favorite Eco-Friendly Brands

So all year long I have been slowly dipping my toes into purchasing sustainable and eco-friendly products. It can be expensive to switch all at once, so I try to find brands that are affordable and good to the earth and the company’s workers. Obviously one of the negatives of purchasing organic/sustainable/fair trade products is that they are a bit more expensive. The good part is that if we all demand more of these products, the prices may go down as time goes on! Supply and demand.

Anyways, listed below are some of my favorite brands and products! Leave a comment below if there are any environment-friendly, ethical brands that you think I should check out next.

PiperWai

I have experimented with all-natural deodorant quite a bit this year (more on that later), and I absolutely adore this one. It’s easy to apply, it smells amazing thanks to all of the essential oils that are added and best of all, IT WORKS ALL DAY*. 10/10 would recommend. The only negative is that it’s more expensive than some other options. It is cruelty-free and vegan!

*you have to go through a detox period which lasts about 2-4 weeks before your natural deodorant will work all day like your old deodorants. This is why many people believe that natural deodorant doesn’t work – they haven’t completed the detox period, or they are smelling someone who has not completed detox period and isn’t reapplying. During the detox period you will want to use natural deodorant 2 -3 times a day, depending on how much you perspire. Don’t use your old deodorant after you switch, you’ll have to detox it out again just quit cold turkey. It’s better in the long run!

EO Products – Cleansing Milk

I have always struggled with break outs, and my skin has been happier in this year than ever before in my life. I attribute this to my daily use of EO coconut cleansing milk. It’s a very light formula that leaves my skin clean and hydrated. I have combination skin and this has been a face saver for me. This definitely taught me that spending a little more money on face wash can make a huge difference in the long run. They focus on sustainable manufacturing in order to have the least impact possible on the environment, and use essential oils in many of their products.

Everyone Face Toner

I spray this toner on my face every day after I finish washing. It has reduced the size of my pores and keeps my skin balanced throughout the day so I have less oily spots and less dry spots! I love this product, it’s really affordable and it lasts a long time.

Note: Everyone products are like a sister brand to EO products, they are generally much more affordable options. There are about five more products that I regularly purchase that come from either everyone products or EO products. Body lotion, shampoo, conditioner, shower gel and more. Check out their website for more body care items!

Eco Style Gel

This is my most recent find and I have to share with you! I have naturally curly hair that I rarely straighten or blow-dry. I embrace the curls. I have used mousse, gel, oil, hairspray and various styling creams over the years and they honestly all work about the same, but this is a really great eco-friendly option! This was the first alcohol-free hair styling product line. It’s affordable, it doesn’t flake off like some gels do, and it also lasts a long time.

Schmidt’s Natural Deodorant

This is what my husband and I use on a daily basis. It’s about $5 less expensive than piperwai, depending on where you purchase both products. It works really well and comes in a variety of scents. Aluminum-free, cruelty-free and vegan.

Everlane

Okay enough products, on to brands! I love Everlane. They have the most beautiful basics (they don’t do trends), made with high-quality materials. They treat their factory workers well and pay them a reasonable wage, which is probably one of the biggest issues in the fashion industry right now. They even have a “choose-what-you-pay” section in their online store which you have to see to believe!

Ten Tree

This brand plants 10 trees for every item sold! They have colorful snap backs, amazing hoodies and an assortments of bags. Emphasis – the hoodies are super cool. They have over 20 projects in various countries and you can keep track of how and where they are giving back on their website. This is a great company to support!

Matt and Nat

Matt and Nat designs the most gorgeous vegan handbags you’ve ever seen. I want their entire collection. They have sharp, minimalist, classic designs and they are made to last. The company is extremely environmentally conscious. If you need a new bag, I have to recommend this brand.

Sustain

Ladies, your vagina is the most absorbent part of your body. Be careful what products you’re putting in there. From tampons to condoms to lube, Sustain provides products free of harmful carcinogens and toxins. They also give 10% of profits to women’s healthcare organizations! I use a few of their products regularly and 10/10, would recommend.

That’s all for now. I didn’t list nearly every product that I’ve tried this year, but these are some of my notable mentions. Let me know what your favorite products are, and what brands I should try out next!
