Professional Teeth Whitening with Smile Brilliant!

Professional Teeth Whitening with Smile Brilliant!

I love coffee and I love wine, but I hate the effect that they have on my teeth!  I am constantly looking for affordable, convenient ways to keep my smile bright without limiting my beverage intake.  I love wearing white, but it’s a horrible feeling when my outfit highlights how not white my teeth are. I recently received an opportunity to use the professional tooth whitening system with Smile Brilliant in exchange for an honest review, and I was super exited to try a more professional process to whiten my teeth!

Smile Brilliant is a system that allows customers to receive professional grade whitening results at home, for a small fraction of the cost of a professional whitening treatment.  Most dentists say that whitening works best when you use trays that fit your teeth exactly, and this is what Smile Brilliant provides. Unlike other whitening systems, Smile Brilliant removes existing stains permanently so that they never return.  In addition to the whitening system, they also have a desensitizing gel so that bright smile can be achieved without the intense, lingering pain that many other whitening systems produce!

In the past I have used Crest 3D White Whitestrips and Dental Duty’s ToothBrite natural and organic teeth whitening charcoal to whiten my smile.  I used both of these options regularly. I would use Crest Whitestrips every few weeks to give me a “deeper” level of whitening and then I would follow that up by using the whitening charcoal to brighten my smile in between whitestrip treatments if I felt like my smile was getting a little dingy.  I was satisfied with these options because I didn’t realize there was a better option without whitening professionally. The problem with these whitening systems is that they only kept my teeth bright for a short amount of time, so I really had to keep up with the process on a regular basis.  I also suffered terrible sensitivity from whitestrips, and whitening charcoals can be abrasive and bad for your enamel over time. I had never used a professional whitening treatment mainly because of the cost, which can be hundreds of dollars.  In addition to that, I’ve heard that the amount of sensitivity that you can experience from professional whitening can be extremely painful, and I could hardly bear the pain after using just whitestrips on my teeth.

This is how the kit arrives – neat, complete, and with plenty of helpful instructions!

I found the overall process with Smile Brilliant to be extremely convenient and effective!  Once you place your order, Smile Brilliant sends a package within a few days that includes detailed instructions, whitening gel, and putty to make molds of your teeth.  They send additional putty materials in case you have trouble creating the initial molds. The directions to make the molds were very thorough and helpful. I will admit that I messed up my first mold because I was rushing a little, so the additional mold materials were very helpful!

These are my final molds that I send to the lab after they were dry and rinsed!

Once my molds were created, I mailed them back to the lab so that they could make my whitening trays.  Postage and packaging to send your molds back is included, so I didn’t have to worry about additional costs, packaging, or sending them to the correct location.  I received my whitening trays in the mail within a few days and was able to continue the whitening process at that point. My molds fit my teeth perfectly and were very comfortable to wear.  They were so well-fitted to my teeth that I could wear them without anyone really noticing! That was great, because the whitening and de-sensitizing process does take a couple hours. Smile Brilliant also sent a nice little case to keep my whitening trays in to prevent me from misplacing them!

To whiten, I put the whitening gel into the mold, inserted, and let sit for 20-30 minutes.  You want to make sure that the gel is on the front of the mold and not on the bottom.  This ensures that the entire front side of your smile is receiving the treatment, as the backs of your teeth don’t matter as much. Another thing to try to remember is that your teeth should be dry when the molds go on.  You can dry your teeth out by baring your teeth and breathing in a few times, then put your molds on immediately, before closing your mouth again.

I let my teeth whiten for over an hour each session.  After I was done whitening, I removed the trays, rinsed and dried them, brushed my teeth normally and then repeated the process but this time with the desensitizing gel.  I left the gel on for about 40 minutes each time and experienced almost no sensitivity.  You can adjust this based on your sensitivity level, but I experienced almost zero sensitivity with this product, which was a drastic change from Crest white strips where my teeth hurt for almost 16 hours after whitening!

For me, the best part of the process was the end result, the fact that I didn’t have to visit my dentist to get results, and the very minimal sensitivity that I had to experience to get results.  The “worst” part of the process for me was finding time to whiten. It took about 2 hours each time and you have to be at home, so I normally did it in the evening after dinner.
